An internship is a short-term commitment to an
employer, where you have the opportunity to gain experience and
exposure to the work environment. In turn, the employer provides
you with a learning experience and specific work assignments related
to your career goals. Depending on the situation, internships may
be structured or flexible, part-time or full-time, and paid or unpaid.
You may even be able to receive academic credit. Remember, the most
important payoff you will receive from an internship is the experience
gained.
